Literacy
Literacy can be integrated with every other content area, which makes it easy to use throughout the course of a school day.  Reading, writing, listening, and/or speaking can be incorporated into science (i.e. recording data), into social studies (i.e. telling a story, writing a letter, or reading a book about a social studies topic), and into mathematics (i.e. writing numbers, speaking to others, or listening to multiple ways of solving a problem).  It is a great way to meet many standards in one lesson.  Students approach literacy in many different ways, so it is imperative for teachers to know their students and meet each child's individual needs.
